Consumed

by Kate   May 17, 2020

I get stuck in your eyes when you look at me
Just like two brilliant crystal green gems
That make me wish upon a four leaf clover
Their light flashing across my darkened skies
While I wish upon your shooting stars

What I wouldn’t give to whisper my thoughts
Or for you to feel the rhythm of my heart
As it beats hard and heavy against my ribs
When I can count the freckles on your face
And imagine my fingertips tracing your stubble

I would love you to the moon and back
But I’m trying not to fall down the rabbit hole
But the distance I place makes me yearn more
I save your image to my head so I can see you
When I lay in my bed and close my eyes

You’ve driven me mad, out of my element
You’re like an addiction that I can’t shake
Because as soon as I hear your voice
It’s like the burnt out wick in my chest ignites
Until your warmth consumes me fully
