Eyelids sag, fingers let loose, bones repose, pulse slows, toes relish the warmth of cashmere bedcovers. You give in. The night dictates that at the end of the day your body should quit fighting. I watch you stroll into a dream. Eyes dart back and forth, ribcage allows a couple of heartbeats to lub-dub lub-dub loud enough for my palm to feel. I kiss the cold sweat on your neck, and join you in your peace.
