Never once did he feel remorse
Knowing the evil he had released
Knowing full well what he had done.
Understanding with grace
The trust that she placed
In his protection and in his love.
With her heart in his hand
And a scalpel in his other.
With precise precision
He sliced away at her heart's honor.
Watching through tears.
Betrayed.
Not just her secrets,
but lies he created
like feathers,
Flying and scattering,
She watches them swirling.
Taken away by the breath of the wind.
Impossible now for any amends.
Listen.
Can you hear it?
That high fevered pitch of
excitement!
As people scurry through streets.
Rushing and eager to grab with their sticky fingers,
All of the feathers they're wishing to keep.
Oh how sweet and delicious
The taste and the sound of malicious gossip!
Especially when it's not about you.
But it's about someone other.
Gossip, Rumors and Lashon Hara (Evil Speech)
Lashon hara is scandal-mongering. Lashon hara is considered to be prohibited by the Bible on the basis of Leviticus 19:16, “You shall not go up and down as a slanderer or a talebearer among your people,” and is frequently condemned in the Book of Proverbs.
The rabbis in inveighing against it, saying that slander, talebearing, and evil talk were worse than the three cardinal sins of murder, immorality, and idolatry. Of one who indulges in lashon hara they say that he denies the existence of God, and that the Almighty declares “I and he cannot live in the same world”
