Immigrant

by Sunshine   Jun 5, 2020

Oceans of barricades
and skies of fences
cannot confine my soul.

Pawns around my beating ribs
can only scratch the skin.

I know. I am miles away
from the sun
but its rays
ceaselessly linger,
they linger deep within.

A land of mine,
a home of yours,
it is there somewhere
over the mystic meadows.

Yet your name
only crosses the borders;
an immigrant in my heart.

    This Stanza stands out for me. It gave me the emotion of longing for something impossible to reach. It's lovely.
