The Slough

by Sunshine   Jun 8, 2020

I told you the weather was nice
and the sky was colored in liberty.
Take me to that side of the sphere,
walk me out of mud and fog.
Raise us above the slough
to be happy and light again.
To march the green trail
of poetry and freedom.

Oh so different from your recent poems but this still makes a great impact and emotional happy story of sorts.

Without going too in depth of political correctness i believe this poem speaks of freedom but not the type of freedom that the usa pretends to be. It almost speaks of freedom from depression. Perhaps the depression would be lifted if you lived in a different country. It all mixes well together as one.

The weather there is nice but nice could be a deep meaning. It is nice as it is your comfort zone, you are used to it. The sky was colored in "liberty" usa freedom with bombs and war perhaps?

You want anyone to take you away from the place you are now and you hope for a better life. To get out of the mud and swamp (messy and torn) place you live. The hope and happiness comes with you getting out. The light on the otherside of the tunnel so to speak.

You want to see the grass again. The grass is greener on the other side.

Love this so much because all of the emotions mix together well.
