No longer looking for you

by the warrior   Jun 11, 2020

I still hear a pitter patter and think of you
But I no longer look for you

I still hear a bark and think its you
But I know its not
So I don't look for you

I still think about our fun together and our walks
But I no longer look for you beside me

I still hear the jingle of tags and am reminded of you
But I no longer look around and look for you

I know you are in a better place, a heavenly place,
and I know you are needed there...
So that why I no longer look for you.

Our loving companions are always in our hearts, and some day, as I saw in this poem, their memories are still present, but perhaps less painful and shocking. When we can look back and smile, and realize how important their memories are, and that they are with us in different ways. The repetition of "I no longer look for you" expressed the sadness and ways maybe you've grown from the grief. It may be hard to move from a place of mourning to taking something from the pain and honoring their memory, knowing they are at peace.

Still, my heart goes out to you <3
