Strangers

She was once your little angel.
Until you let her fall from the sky.
You were supposed to protect her.
Not sit there and watch her die.
.
How many scars must she have?
How many cuts need she bare?
How much pain is expected?
Until you finally stand up and be there?

You say you’re ashamed of yourself.
Well she’s sickened by this secret.
You let a monster walk the streets.
Then stare blankly at her and retreat.

She won’t be there forever.
She’s no longer your little girl.
The day you decided to live in silence.
Is the day she died and left this world.

You want her to protect the guilty?
Fine, but she will not stay condemned.
For as soon as she can fly from this hell.
You all will never see her again.

Beautifully written. Sometimes people just sit by and watch while someone breaks you, and they don't do anything to help. Sometimes the people who deserve condemnation the most walk free. That is the cruel truth of this world.
