The Ribbon Of Solidarity

by Muhammad Amiruddeen   Jun 24, 2020

A string formed around the globe,
Connecting the masses in unity,
A tie for the humankind to change the tide,
Destroying racism at it's core,

Life is unfair even without bringing in race,
Killing us and rubbing it in our face,
In this place no where is safe,

Every time they give us crunchy stories,
They say we resist arrest,
They say we talk back,
They say our look is suspicious,

To them our live doesn't matter,
To them we count as nothing,
To them we have no dignity,

Proud we are of our heritage,
But judge us not by our skin,
We are more than mere colours,
We are more than a statistics,
Let us breathe, let us live in peace.

You have a couple of little grammatical errors here but I will definitely overlook them in favour of the topic. This was so raw and just heartbreaking. I know it should NOT happen today but, sadly as we all know, it still DOES.
