I keep re-reading this and not having the proper words to comment. The questions worked so well and I didn't find the tone harsh, just telling and possibly challenging this person to own up to their life and mistakes and face any consequences. You're showing the layers of someone who wanted to be reborn away from the reality they face. Almost a reincarnation? The losing skin, perhaps not just shedding one's skin for freedom but also holding themselves accountable, hence the fear. The judgment. The start of living with sharp self-awareness. But the "tomb of fear" resurfaces, that chance to escape it, be muffled, buried in ignorance. I especially liked the last two lines, the kind of -in-between. Where one has to make a decision, because what's life if we're not working toward a freer self, and at the same time, what's life if we are afraid of the harsh realities that may (or may not) destroy us or break us completely down?
