Other Side of the Fence

I am happy I am so rich
There is no way with you I'd switch
I am proud and standing tall
In my life I have it all
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't doubt you, no one does
Though I don't need to make a fuss
I might not have all your wealth
But I am thankful for my health
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The way you live is very plain
And this would drive me insane
In my life I'll never strive
Nor need to work from nine to five
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I might not have all your thrills
And need to work to pay my bills
Although each week my pay is spent
With my life I am content
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I laugh so much I have to cry
With just your thin slice of pie
And what you earn in a year
Is only change for my cashier
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I never hold a grudge
But unlike you, I don't judge
And if this is all that you can see
You're living in a fantasy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You're just jealous I've got it made
I bet you wish that you could trade
And I know if you could choose
You'd swap with me to wear my shoes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You're so wrong but I respect
It's your jealousy that I detect
With everything you have on show
There's still one thing you'll never know
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to smirk with your thought
But there's not one thing that can't be bought
What ever I'm craving or wanting near
I just click my fingers to appear
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you can have all the above
Then I wonder why you've not found love?
You're saying you can pick and choose
Then why with love do you always lose?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a joke! Are you keeping score?
It's so obvious that I had more
Nor do I settle for just one
I bet your 'love' isn't this much fun
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I am devoted to my wife
And holding hands we share a life
No need to put her on a chart
My highs are felt within my heart
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But is this the way you want to live?
Where you hardly take and just give
At least with me, the next day
There's not a chance that she would stay
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you only knew just what you miss
And how love feels when we kiss
Love works wonders and has a plan
You'll soon find out as a lonely man
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I guess I will find out then
But for now I'll say they are my friends
I don't even know all their names
It's not needed when you play these games
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sorry but love is calling me
My beautiful wife on the balcony
Her lure leading me other there
To a romantic meal we'll both share
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I might have the grandest house
So why do I feel like a mouse?
He's right, with love, I can't seem to choose
And I'll trade it all to wear his shoes...

    Money cant buy love or happiness. So clearly shown here. I liked very much the alternating between the rich person and the poor and the demonstration that possessions and wealth can never come close to the riches that true love brings. Milly x

      So very true Milly and a rich heart I think will always bring more happiness than a rich wallet. Thank you for your comment :) x

    I really enjoyed reading this and for some reason, the image it conjured of the silly rich man was Trump! Lol.
    There will always be things that money just can't buy. :-) x

      Lol Thanks for the comment Kitty. And yes I suppose Trump would be perfect for this character!
