Draping New

by Gracy Judith   Jul 5, 2020

No more grey-edged yesterdays
brimming monotony—
No more old feeding old.
the subtle rain of amends
spills all things new.
the first drizzle
feels like homecoming
the warmth rejuvenating
I revel in it
rinsing the world off me
it’s not dark inside me anymore.
new dreams, I wear
sanding off past layers
discarding old skin
and draping new

This has a wonderful, hopeful quality to it, a hope that can only be appreciated after coming from a rather more stale place. Sometimes a bit of a rut is good as it makes the appreciation of 'new' all the more intense! :-) x

Great message and well written as is usual with your poetry. To be able to cast off the old and move on with the new is a rare and wonderful talent.

All the very best as ever,
    Ben

There's something to be said for shedding that old husk and emerging new. Loved this-
