Sunday Rant

It's not your OCD
when you like things
very organized.

You don't hear an angry
voice yelling "this will kill you,
don't touch that door knob!

did you lock the door?

did you turn off the lights?
check again,
then wash your hands,
then check again,
then wash your hands again,

germs are everywhere,
in your room,
on your shelf, your book,
in your lungs,
in your mind,
this will kill you,

this will this will this will

wash again,
wash again,
wash again."

Did you?

You've never spent
fifteen minutes
repeating every single
item on your grocery list
in the grocery store,
in front of the cashier,
three times
in a row, so quickly
and irritably, that
you kind of lost your breath,
and drew attention
to yourself.

You have not.

Then, it's not "your OCD".

I wish more people could read this. I hear people saying they're OCD (or as you mentioned- bi-polar) but actually have no idea what it's really like.

Haha, I don't have OCD but it's totally crept into vocabulary now as a synonym for 'organised'. I've heard people say 'I'm a bit OCD with how I like the cushions on the couch'. Nah, you just don't like your couch to be messy! It must be frustrating for someone who genuinely has it. I imagine it's extremely unpleasant. It's the equivalent of saying 'oh I'm a bit schizo!' coz you have a bit of a monologue.

Yeah, Danny! It irritates me, even though I don't have OCD.

I have bipolar, and hearing people say "Ugh I'm so bipolar", when they have a few mood swings, and it feels as if they're not taking this mental illness seriously. As if, anyone could have it, and it's not a big deal. Which is very hurtful, because those suffering from said mental illness go through hell, and it isn't just about "mood swings".
