Unscrupulous, Unapologetic

by nouriguess   Jul 13, 2020

We were not bowerbirds
boasting a secluded coast,
walking on the unruffled waters,
and making love
languorously.

We broke the sky
like the seething wind,
scratched the moon,
drowned the honeybees,
tossed the stars behind the space,
lit the mountains with
an escaping lightning strike;

two loud, unaware,
primitive creatures.

Our throats laughed hysterically
at the holocaust of the world around us.

You munched my collarbone,
I bit into your fingers, chomped
on your veins.
We devoured
each other's skins.

Our sprawled bodies basked
under the remains of a resentful sun.

It felt wonderful to
be mindless.
We enjoyed the smell of damage,
we loved every bit of sin.

We would do it all over again.
