Stuck

by Megan Chapman   Jul 21, 2020

It feels like
my words are
stuck.
Caught in a tangle of emotions
I neither want to acknowledge,
nor name,
Lest their waving sticky tendrils
Pull me back in to places I’ve left behind.

Frightened to go there,
but I must.
I have much to tell,
much to resolve,
My words the very tools I need
To turn my fear around,
To shine a light into its darkness
And show myself its flimsiness
In the face of my strength,
My courage
The very beauty of my soul.

I want to share my discoveries
For others to see that light
and beauty
That is ours
Always.

I have missed your poetry, and it's good to see you back with this piece! Your phrasing here, and voice, is strong, and describes everything and anything that could possibly entail feeling "stuck". When naming our emotions and what we've gone through is confronting every fear, but knowing that sometimes it is necessary to heal and move forward. I love the concept of turning your fear around, and using what you've learned to help lift others up.

Lovely piece, hope you are well :)
