Love

Love is rash, Love is blind,
Love can be honest, and not always kind.
Love is fighting and breaking up,
Love is kissing and making up.
Love is passion, love is lust,
Love is a want and not a must.
Love is for fools and the naïve at heart,
Love is a gamble not some sweet treasured art
Love tears you apart and everything you've known
Love makes you feel small, when you swore you were grown.
Love isn't worth it, for it doesn't last that long,
It only made me wonder, where it all went wrong.
But I too once placed my faith in love and desire,
I too once felt the joy of my soul ablaze with fire.
Then the fire died, and my soul filled with despair
For my empty heart is yearning for the love no longer there.
My world was changed in just one awful night,
Now what was right seems wrong, and what was wrong seems right.
I thought we'd last forever, that we'd never be apart,
Now all I have to show is a scarred and shattered heart.
Yet the thing that hurts the most, is the fact he doesn't care,
He's not longing for my love, or wishing I was there.
And still at times I dream he'll come to me,
But I know in my heart…this just will not be.
