Cardigans.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 2, 2020

And I'll wear cardigans
at the start of August,
catching gold in the
cornfields,
knitting your love
into my veins
(but you're not here).
I'm holding on to a
cold summer,
hiding in the grain and
swimming in the dirt
and begging for a
taste of the lakes
we never rowed to.
I'll continue dancing
to the memory of
you, as threads fray
and the sun sets
into my palm;
I'll bury it next
to your grave,
so you know there's
still warmth within
the ground.

I knew this was inspired by Taylor Swifts album just by reading the title lol

I really like when you write poems inspired by music, they have a different feel to them.

Oh, I love this. Her album is so beautifully written and inspires such deep emotion and I can feel a lot of the sunshine gold-ness that I get from listening to her album, in this poem.

    Well done!
