P stands for Murder.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 4, 2020

Murder barges in shortly
after midnight, no knock,
wearing plain clothes, and
fires nearly two dozen
bullets into a Louisville
home, half-blind and
half-ravenous for
new blood.

The aftermath is the
same as it always is,
a system that crushes
the lungs of the
oppressed.

Murder surveys Innocence
on the hallway floor, with
eight gunshot wounds
and no hope of
resurrection,
yet already anticipates
the power of the
next kill.

Murder wears a badge
and swears to serve
and protect those in
America,

(only if they're not
Black).

I admire your persistence in this ongoing injustice against people of colour. There are so many names that you could add to this list and, each and every one of them needs to be remembered . They were all daughters/sons/fathers etc, they breathed the same air as we all do and now...they breath no more...thank you for continuing to highlight these humans...

Such atrocities! It shouldn't happen where is the justice and it doesn't give anyone the right to kill another because of their skin color!! Vividly penned...the crime sits inside my eyes...
