To Save the Moon

by Maple Tree   Aug 11, 2020

To gaze into the mind of a silhouette,
comforting her soul as arms drape
around limbs of sorrow; is like
sun feeling the moons darkness.

To be alone, never alone-

Swinging on the edge of a bird cage
yet never enough energy to fly.

I (like the sun) can see my moon
wanting to live and still basking
in darkness, sniffing stars like
candy coated Valium.

Wanting to help, to save
but as fingertips reach for her
night falls and I rest,
while she dies slowly
as crickets sing her a
lullaby.
