Canes

The only thing I hated about school,
With all my blood,
Was being whipped because of academics.
When I left my birthplace Jinja in Primary 6 for the Capital City,
I thought I was escaping canes,
Only to land in a worse firing squad,
Turned me into a monster.
Why beat me just because I do not know the square root of 81,
Or who invented the steam engine?
Beat me for fornicating or stealing,
To change my behaviour,
Not because am ignorant!
Thank GOD I finally jumped academic canes,
By reading very hard.

    Its awful that some schools think its ok to cane chidren. Sometimes I wonder if these teachers are just inherently evil people just using thier job as a disguise for their violent natures. Poetry like this help raise awareness of such things. Milly x

      Thx Milly! Maybe the Teachers have Issues. The one Cause I want to take part in is to stop Violence against School Children especially for academic reasons. It's not their fault to fail. Besides, we all have different TALENTS...
