Edible Totems

In my tribe,
One of the clans is represented by a grasshopper.
Others are represented by a rat,
Plus cock,
While a fourth one is represented by a termite.
We eat all of those creatures,
Very delicious.
A pumpkin and jute plant represent two others.
Our southern neighbours are represented by whiteants.

    This was interesting to me because it made me wonder what had prompted the naming of these totems. Most clans are named after bold strong creatures like Lions or Bears but then I realised that each creature or item of food no matter its size has a purpose in nourishing life. Which added greater depth and meaning to the choices of names. Millyx

      Thx Milly! Some Tribes in Uganda forbid eating of their own Clan Totems, but for us we eat them, actually defines People from those Clans like the ones who eat big Rats. They are our neighbouring Clan. Personally, I do not eat Rats though slaughtered and roasted for someone, they smell tasty...
