A semi-happy poem.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 16, 2020

This won't be praising
the planet for existing,
I'm not ready for that
yet, but yesterday,
we raced each other
in the dewy field,
until it appeared we
were right under the
double arched rainbow
and it felt like no one could
bother us here, no one could
convince us this wasn't magic,
however fleeting.

Though the wonder faded after
two minutes, the sky becoming
sky again, I held on to this
secret of ours for a little bit
longer, knowing that while
the gaze of the world was
focused on the ground and
its lack of nourishment,
we chose to break routine
and linger on the heavens,
not worrying about the illusions
it would most certainly prolong.

    I love these lines:

    “we chose to break routine
    and linger on the heavens,”

It reminds of my childhood when I used to sway in my hamaca while gazing at the sky. Whenever I used to see a door in the clouds, I thought those were the doors to heaven. It was fascinating. I miss those times. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood.

Although there is a hint of sadness behind this, it is sooooooooo inspiring!!!!!!!
