The term 'wayward feet' reminded be if a similar one 'itchy feet'. Sometimes this can refer to wanting/needing to move from a physical place. I don't think, however, this poem mean just that. I think it's about being unhappy with oneself, needing/ wanting change either mentally or physically? The trouble is, we can't run away from ourselves.
