Creep

by Cantchangeme   Aug 17, 2020

Through nets as fine as spider web
His bloodshot eyes covet their meal
The hellhound’s mouth waiting to be fed
Jaws of flesh of bone and steel

By angel’s breath a candle flickers and dies
A warm glow before the dark does yield
As silence settles in to court the night
A window leans open no longer sealed

It’s herald unanswered by seraphim’s call
Dawn will fall lazy upon the wayward pane
Beyond it’s presence are tears yet to fall
Endless heartache, much more rain

Far in a burrow the hellhound sleeps
His bloodshot eyes wide open and raw
He dare not move less his friend awake
To eagerly satisfy his yearning maw
