Weathered

by Ky   Aug 20, 2020

A broken rock,
It does not moan,
It simply sheds,
A smaller stone,
Whilst standing strong,
Against the waves,
Constant weathering,
Day by day,
And though assaulted,
By waves uncouth,
It does not cry,
It just turns smooth,
The lesson,
If there is one there,
Is don't give up,
When there's much to bear,
Don't let life's waves,
Break you down,
Be like the rock,
And hold your ground.

A beautifully written reminder to remain grounded, despite feeling weathered in all aspects of life. I like the flow of the rhymes here and the simple, yet effective, imagery.
