There once was a time when I let sand get foisted under my nails, to grub for colored conches and arks. I ran and treaded on the shying trails of waves. The shells started breaking under my feet, I let go of things, even the ruby-throated hummingbirds I dreamed to follow. The ocean is a god in motion.
