Famous Poet/Classic Poem Challenge. Take a Classic Poem from an Established/Famous Poet and write one under the same umbrella, a poem based upon that poem -- a takeoff of that poem so to speak - wherein the poem has the same title and similar subject matter. You can use the first line, the opening line, or rhymed lines, as your base -- a jumping-off point, to write a comparable poetic work, with your words, your own poetic flare, and your inspired vision. The goal is to reach your poetic pinnacle to write a poem as good as or better than the poem which initially inspired it. The poem must be 30 lines or under and there are two categories Romantic (Love) or Inspiration (Social Activism). Please note the poem and poet that inspired your work in your presentation (poetic work).
