Moon,
watch over me
from your highest crescent,
cradling me as
the night slips through
your pockmarked shadows.
Do you grieve? Knowing
that your wholeness
will be sliced away?

- Maybe
it is the reason you
find yourself
complete again.

Perhaps
you wane
only because you know
somewhere
across the earth
- in the ink
that muffles the stars,
you'll find
the self
that you were
missing.

There was reassurance I read in this, with that tinge of sadness, and like you are waiting, to know and understand what being "whole" means. The connection to the moon and that kinship with it, wanting to know if it grieves in the same ways... brings some peace of mind. That we are not alone in our search for what is missing...

What a wonderfully skilled and beautifully worded poem this is. I have to say, the title is very imaginative, too.

    All the very best.
