Birdie

by Aiko (Dreamsurfer)   Sep 12, 2020

The rain fell,
Threw him to the ground,
From a nest on an avocado tree.
It seemed like birdie was going to die.
So I took him into the house,
Placed him in a cardboard box,
Fed him with sun-dried termites,
Warmed him with a kerosene lamp at night.
After a week,
My young friend regained strength.
I heard him singing to another bird outside,
Probably in bird-lingo.
So, I put him outside and pretended to walk in.
Then witnessed a heartwarming reunion with his mum,
As she descended towards birdie and they flew away together.
