like being erased.
like being snuffed out
while you're awake.
It feels like -
falling backward
into sand,
with no net
and no hands.
It feels like wool -
scratching
at your eyes
while your pulse
inexplicably climbs -
and then -
Love how the poem continues from the title.
This makes me feel so many things all at once. Lonely, empty, vulnerable, and the longing and missing for that person, all of these feels like a heavy weight around the chest. The falling backward with no hands, the texture of wool, it's lint scratching at your eyes - love these lines!
