Dream

I had a dream
Where one stayed beside me
For once someone cared
To my friend be

They knelt beside me
Gently touched my face
Told me I would be okay
That I wasn't a disgrace

They kept their promise
Of saying that they'd stay
That the other before didn't matter
For they would never go away

I finally allowed myself
To offer a small, true smile
Because someone would be there
Through my hard trial

But then I woke up
And you weren't there
I held back tears
Running a hand through my hair

Why did I believe
That they would really care
For they all back off
When I start to share

I see you at school
You see me and wave
I force on a smile
Knowing that you'll never me save

I watch you carefully
And don't dare to tell
Because I know the response
And my heart already fell
