Lies and Raw Lips

by Lioness   Oct 2, 2020

I could have let it go. I swear.

But something wouldn't let me.

And now I sit here with shaking hands and half breaths for each lie you whispered into my willing ear.

My emotions are sealed within every tear-drop that falls to my mouth, and the bitterness from the pain burns my lips raw.

    Liz, missed your writes!

In these few lines, you packed that punch, and the pain that comes with hearing lie after lie, when it becomes familiar.... a lot of depth in this brevity, especially the not being able to let it go. I feel like that could extend to so many things, but also reflect on what we are willing to accept, and sometimes we can't quickly get over or forget something. It stays with us and haunts us.

    Hope you're doing alright <3

Hey, lovely! Thank you so much. It's been a while lol I come here sporarically. Most of my writing is now done in the form of stories.

Thank you for your kind words. It's been hard the past couple of months and this poem pretty much sums up what I have gone through. Your comment is spot on and everything I have gone through myself. Thank you ? I have missed everyone's writing too!
