Haunting of Moons

by Maple Tree   Oct 12, 2020

I've become uncomfortable
with pillow clouds that dance
under the darkest of moons-
the feeling of skeletal fingers
sends chills upon a fiery spine
as coffee chills my lungs.

I want to breathe
but I'm haunted
at knowing you
still love me.

Those last few lines are my absolute favorite, and give me chills and sadness. "breath" should be "breathe" though, but I felt that constriction in this. The inability to truly breathe in and out, in the moment, and trying to process another's emotions and feelings toward you.
