Apocalypse

Apocalypse

We must not let greed
our resources deplete
for rescuing our precious world
we need

As we squeeze the globe
like an orange
we deny life to all oranges
and take global warming
to its extreme ranges

By squeezing the earth
like lemons
we awake
all the worse demons
who will obliterate
our greatest
scientific beacons

Squeezing our resources
like grapes
we will be surely left
without any hopes and shapes
for we have been
such greedy apes

I like the mention of the fruits here, and the image of squeezing them until there is nothing left is a good comparison to what we do to Mother Earth. There's also something quite unsettling about confronting how much we've taken that isn't ours, using up resource after resource and not necessarily thinking of the outcome.

Right on, dear poet. I am glad you see it as it should. I wished more of us would come aboard to rescue our beautiful planet!!
      Thank you so much!
