Depression

by Skyfire   Oct 19, 2020

I feel the weight
of you
against my chest
and I unravel myself
into your
familiarity
and pour my
need into your
veins like
melted silver
arrows
that will pierce us
both -
bonding our
breaths beneath a
latticework of
mutual pain.

While this could perhaps be interpreted as two people sharing their pain, and their desire to be heard and relieved of some of it, I also took it as speaking to and confiding in depression itself. When we cannot simply shake it off, when it constricts us and we have no other option, we fall into it, and sometimes it can mold itself into us where we don't feel separate from the pain or weight of it.

Thank you for your comment! That's exactly it, it can be both.
