The Tricker

by Cantchangeme   Oct 26, 2020

The tricker
Is a... something
You don’t want to meet
His teeth are rotten
His breath far from sweet
No-ones seen his face
As he wares an odd mask
What it’s supposed to be
No-one dares ask
His hands are slimy
His eyes a deep cold blue
Pray he’s not near
That he’s not passing through
He works in the dark
Knocking on doors
I hope for your sake
He’s not knocking on yours
If you don’t light a lantern
If you can’t pay the price
Please listen to me
Please heed this advice
Please don’t answer
Stay gripping your seat
He’ll deliver the trick
If you don’t supply the treat
For one house will be left
Empty this Halloween
The family gone
Nowhere to be seen
I’ve heard it said
He clutches a dirty sack
And he carries their bodies
To hell on his back
I couldn’t comment
I’d scarcely try
But you want to know
I hear you cry!
Well I have a secret
I’ll share and let you in
He makes his masks
...Out of their skin

So if you see the Tricker
Pay the price, don’t be mean
Or he might be wearing your face
Next Halloween

    Great pace and ghoulish imagery.

A superb piece of macabre fun! A really different read - thanks for sharing, I enjoyed this one.

    All the best.
