Play fair, Play nice

by the warrior   Oct 27, 2020

I was always told growing up that I should
play fair and play nice
But life ain't fair and y'all aren't very nice.

...But for whatever reason I still try to be nice
and play fair by attempting to bring the joy...

But some days it's hard,
Hard to be joyful,
Hard to play fair,
And sometimes I don't want to be nice!!

So some days I'm a little rough around the edges,
everyone can see that I'm falling apart
but they don't do much but watch.

I keep going till my energy runs out
and I start to burn fumes.

And sometimes I wish I could let myself burn,
in the hopes that it may spark a fire in your cold hearts...
And maybe, one day you'll get it and be nice...
And maybe one day you'll even play fair...

But I doubt it, so for now I will pick myself up
and I'll rise a little higher.
I'll become a little stronger.
I'll build myself up.
And I'll keep brining the joy,

Even though you don't play fair and you don't play nice.
