A message from Santa

by Michael   Nov 8, 2020

I write to you all with regret
our industry is in great debt.
The lock down has taken its toll
and hit hard here, in the north pole.

I applied for a bounce-back loan
But couldn’t get through on the phone.
No means I have here, for wi-fi,
as signals are poor, here so high

So redundant now are my elves
and no gifts are stacked on the shelves.
My reindeers have flown, down south
to spread the news, word of mouth.

A good friend of mine has E-Bay
who’s helped with the sale of my sleigh.
So good tidings I wish to you all
and maybe next year I will call.

But clouds have a silver lining,
as just received it in writing
I’ve qualified, for the furlough
jolly good show, and Ho Ho Ho.

Thank you Ben, Mr D and Keira.
Yes it can be taken two ways. A little fun in these difficult times.

Very funny, but it can certainly be taken two ways! Nice rhymes throughout. Great poem!

Good stuff, Michael. Very funny but certainly a little dark too simply because of the inherent truth of the matter and the difficulties santas up and down the land will have this Christmas.

Poor old Santa and his helpers. This poem is topical and cleverly shows the difficulties of these times. It will, undoubtedly, touch a raw nerve with those worried about the real prospects of a cancelled Christmas.

    Nice work, Michael.

    Take care.
