Requiem of Autumn

by Jane Do-Re-Mi   Dec 3, 2020

Summer was filled
with such contentment
I gave no thought to the fact
that seasons end
as, under the cooling shade
of the oak tree
we laughed, we kissed, we loved
but, that was many yesterdays ago,
now

'neath a lonesome moon
I sit listening to
orchestral winds strum
dejected branches
haunting them to mute and,

as a kaleidoscope of coppers
cascade in their final
tango of death
I realize
you will never return
to our special place
my love

Despite the sorrow, this poem has a nice soft feeling about it. Love is all, love is naught. :)
