Heart Safe

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 2, 2021

If you want to love me,
you have to first begin to attempt
the removal of every chain
that now protects my cautious heart.

Cry not for me
for craving my own space,
but nothing gets close to me
since I became heart safe.

Love becomes meaningless
when promises age
and the rain inside the rainbow
becomes a constant downpour of disappointment.

So cry not for me
for craving my own space,
but nothing gets close to me
since I became heart safe.

Heart safe - nice phrasing :)

The imagery of a heart wrapped up from every angle with chains was neat. The statement to the wanna be new lover that simply the removal of a chain will not suffice, for this heart, this heart that has been hurt so very badly, that its owner has barricaded it up like a fortress. Inside this rainbow, it may seem beautiful from the outside, but inside it remembers and it forever cries. To gain access to the heart, you must break the safe and to do that you will need to carefully remove each chain and this will take time and trust. If the owner of said, heart safe, needs time, or seems to push away, remember that she is scared of the next heart break, for it might be her last.

    Nice work, Saffie.
