The Lion Mouse

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 9, 2021

You hide in the background,
as silent as I once was.

I guess you are afraid of what happens next,
since you have nowhere left to run
and your masterpiece did not turn out
as fragile as you had hoped for.

A clash of power was not part of your plan,
but I was reborn recently as a lion,
no longer am I restrained by your chains!

You must be crazy if you thought
that I would forever stay that quiet mouse.
You should have learned not to leave room for mistakes.

You cannot steal my dreams from me,
you left my cage door open
and now I am free to be
whatever desires me.

I will give you a war to remember,
and you will forever hear the echo of my roar
as you look into my eyes!

And as you lay upon your death bed,
you will come to realise your biggest mistake,
was trusting me to never trust myself...

because I became someone
you never thought I could be,

I became me!
