Emotionally Exposed

I always thought the past would forever feel worse than today,
but all it takes is for one person to shake that tree,
and suddenly all the bad apples come crashing down on me.

All the things I hate, seem to revolve around me,
as guilt washes over me when I see the debris
of the hurricane I always leave behind.

I don't even remember why
I tried to paint the smile back upon my face,
but lately,
whilst I have been lonely,
I've been too emotional
to finish hiding my broken heart;
I'm just left with an emotionless expression
and a heart
that has vanished
without a trace.
