This has really got me thinking. First read I thought it was about the forgotten elderly left alone in nursing homes as the virus keeps them apart from their loved ones but, I do think there's much more to this poem. After two or three reads I sensed sarcasm in the narration which makes me now thing you are having a go at the government and their too little too late attitude to the whole covid situation.

Could be totally off the mark on either theory but it got my brain ticking and, believe me, that's a good thing.

I must admit, I allowed my subconscious free rein with this one. I find that sometimes I like to not have a conscious agenda, as this can some time be restrictive. What I did want, which was conscious, was a nice flow, which I am fairly happy with. Of course, my mind is consumed with the pandemic and Trump at the moment, but intermingled with this would be angst from my past. I guess, my recent birthday has made me look back on the road i have travelled and further along it too! Like you, I appreciate the poems of others that make me think, I may not be able to interpret them, but often a poem is not about what the writer intended, but what emotional/learning the reader gains from the experience. I know there is a thread that kind of covers this topic and I look forward to reading the opinion of others. Most of my poems I have an agenda, so this was a pleasant change to free my mind up. Thank you for reading this more than once and I am pleased that it got your brain ticking over. :)
