Animal Instincts

by Walter   Jan 26, 2021

If I was a bird, I could fly
Way up in the clear blue sky
If I was a dog, I could hear
Everything that's, far and near
If I was a fish, I could swim
And not come up, for oxygen
If I was a badger, I could borrow
Like there is, no tomorrow

I am human, and I am wise
I'll do these things, if I improvise
But I wonder why, I am hated
Animals think, I'm complicated
Because with nature, they all blend
While I'm only seen, to offend
Sometimes I wish, I wore their skin
At least with Earth, Id fit right in

But I'm not smart and I go on
Just keep thinking nothings wrong
Each day on Earth, I will pollute
And then I act like it's minute
Maybe you just, over react
With pollution and all the facts
Believe me what I say is true
There's nothing really I can do

Life goes on, but then it stops
All the birds begin to drop
I call my dog, to come here
But he seemed to disappear
Fish don't swim, now they float
In search for an antidote
Badgers dig deep, to try and save
But they only dig their grave

Now there's only me alive
But even I start to strive
And I'll realise what I've done
Because I am the only one
I'm not proud and won't stand tall
As soon, even I will fall
Once at the top, of the food chain
But now the prisoner, it restrains
