The Blind Eye of a Needle

by Walter   Feb 4, 2021

This needle, I cannot thread
With the string, that I just fed
The holes too small, or the string's too thick
Maybe it's my eyes, just playing tricks

I am trying to, repair a hole
Which was made, when you stole
My heart that, I asked for back
But when you did, there was a crack

This was meant, a precious gift
But you never, looked after it
It was battered, and it was bruised
And has left me, feeling used

You know I need, my heart to live
Now such a gift, I'll never give
And all you've left, is your scorn
With my heart, which you have torn

But forever now, I'm incomplete
With a heart, that doesn't beat
String for this needle, I'll never match
When a heart's returned... no strings attached

Nicely rhymed. Loved the use of sewing metaphors. Milly x

Walter, a sad tale indeed but wonderfully written. Nicely rhymed throughout and it flows beautifully. It truly is awful when we hand over our heart and another does not care for it. Hugs-

Thanks Brenda for your lovely comment and yes, it does make trusting someone with your heart worrying. Hugs back :)
