Never Enough

He loved her like she was a dark secret.

She was the person he was with but he didn’t want everyone to know.

He told her she was the light of his world, but each time he hid her, it dimmed her glow.

It made her feel she wasn’t something worthy to show.

He is with someone new now and he loves her like she is a trophy.

He proudly puts her on display.

While the other girl still wonders why he didn’t love her the same way.

Wondering maybe if she had been good enough,
