Drowning Us Both

by Baby Rainbow   Feb 13, 2021

Do you ever read your ending,
afraid of starting a fire in this black winter
and not being able to extinguish the blaze?

Don't you care what you will lose?
Do we really mean so little to you?

You are beating me instead of them.
You are crushing my heart into the ground
every time you have too much to drink
and become the liar inside the bottle.

You opened you mouth and killed any flame of hope
with every lie you poured and swallowed.

You abandoned and betrayed your sister,
someone you are supposed to protect.
Are you really prepared to leave her there,
collapsing in the darkness,
will you face the consequences of how,
or if, she copes?

Will you throw her there, violently bare,
beside fear,
with her heart naked as can be,
then walk away,
knowing that for you,
another drink will always appear
and make everything in your world
seem okay.
