Sawdust to dust

by Walter   Feb 14, 2021

This perfect plank once robust
Now jarrah turned to sawdust
No longer colour in its veins
And useless with what remains

I wear a mask to not inhale
All the dust that I set sail
With what I use, the plank exceeds
And all the rest I have no need

Expensive once and quite a prize
Is only waste now in my eyes
Maybe I'll use it for firewood
And pollute the air with no good

I'm more than happy with what I made
I don't think of the tree that's slayed
There's plenty more where that came from
Yet deep down I know I'm wrong

Turning a blind eye soon won't work
When all of this comes back to lurk
When selfish humans just take, not give
How on Earth, do they expect to live?

Well indeed Walter. We're all guilty of this aren't we? Everything is just so disposable now. I really feel that the sustainability message is starting to filter through now, especially with the younger generations.
    A great write with a great message! :-) x

You're right Kitty and yes, I think we've all been guilty of this at some time. But, as you say, we are also more aware now which is good news too. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment :)
