Cobwebs draped on the window lay motionless,
A glimpse from the full moon manipulates the night,
The shadow figures in the long hallway content now,
Knowing this is the place where they came, and they died…
†
The door to the main room hangs on warped hinges,
That have rusted clear through most its screws,
The haunting clatter still coming from the basement,
Like something below strangely calling to you…
†
It is eerie inside here and the stench still exists,
Even though it happened so long ago,
The floor creaks beneath each of your footsteps,
And the fireplace strangely still glows…
†
You take her quivering hand and then lead her,
To the place where no one should be,
She knows it is too late now to turn back,
The spirits down there would agree …
†
Each footstep down the stairs brings you closer,
The hair on your necks standing straight,
You visualize all the things you may see there,
And you continue which will seal your fate…
†
As you crest the room she screams out of sheer terror,
On the walls they hang there in chains,
The remains of the few who were chosen,
And clearly, they died there in pain…
†
They started out searching for a legend,
Of the tales from a small village in the woods,
But you failed to heed all the warnings you heard,
And your fate will be sealed now, for good…
†
So, the legend now lives on for all others,
They have joined them and are chained to the wall,
Like the cobwebs in the window, they hang motionless,
Deathly close to the shadow figures in the hall…
†
Doomed
