Truth

by Maud   Mar 6, 2021

I long for something with passion,
Dripping out the seams.

Like the breeze on a hot summer day,
Oozing through the trees.

Every branch another story in the library of the forest.

The trees are novels, dictionaries,
Books with fact, not fiction.

And the wind is the teller of tall tales,
Whistling fables into children's ears.

I want to hear one Mommy
But I want to hear the truth.
The one of you and Daddy
And the sheet that made you through.

I don't want a happy ending,
No, I don't want to find a prince.

Daddy, tell me about the boy that's dying in an ally.
The one who was abandoned with no food, love or money.

Tell me about the big man with a plan to destroy.
With lies and smiles and a big bowl of hope.

No Mommy, I don't care about Peter Pan or Neverland.
I do not care about the happy end.
I want to know the truth.

No more pretending,
Tell the wind I'm sick of waiting.

Dear God, I know I'm crazy
But I just want to know the truth.

Very good! If we shield our kids, they will, understandably have a incorrect view of the world. This world is full of goodness, but it is also dark, with predators that pretend to be friends. As parents, it is our responsibility to show them unconditional love, and to make them aware of the dark that exists.

Truth? Does anyone truly know what the truth is?
So far, the only truths I know is that every human being will die and that we are all ignorants. The day, I encounter anyone who doesn’t die, it’ll be the day that truth no longer is truth for me. Interesting poem. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the feedback. I don’t disagree. Will I live an endless battle searching for something that isn’t there? Possibly. We can all pick the battles we choose to fight.
