Insignificance

by cassie hughes   Mar 9, 2021

So now what comes to pass
as flutters shift where
steady pulses beat.

When once warmth bloomed
replaced by winters frost
and icy rime coats
clarity with pain.

This shifted time regales
the oft beleaguered range
with absence at its most
sublime
wasting the extent of it in
care extinguished by indifference
love exsaguinated by abuse.

A nulled empty vessel
forsaken and adrift
amid grey Neptune’s swell.

Consumed by void
and numbed in all
but barest spark of mind
then swept away on scantest
gauzy breath

I loved this. Really good Free verse is often hard to accomplish, but this is excellent. I liked the metaphors and similes, and enjoyed the concept of the poem as well as how it is told.
My only thing is did you miss punctuation on the final sentence? Though it works just as well without it, like an unfinished thought, or one that trails off :)
It's very thought provoking, interesting and well written. I truly liked this.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Keira. The lack of punctuation at the end was indeed intentional. I wasn't sure if anyone would pick up on it though. :)
